Dearest family and friends,
It was a fabulous week. I think in our lessons this week, they were some of the times I have felt the Spirit the strongest thus far on the mission. I have seen God helping me understand more in lessons, so I can then contribute more and really have a better idea of what is being said. God is certainly involved in this work because as President Monson said, we are on the Lord's errand. I was very happy to be able to have some second lessons this week and see people take the first steps of faith. There are certainly so many people to find that are prepared to hear the gospel. One of the investigators said he had been wanting to know more about Jesus Christ for some time. He is our age and his desire to learn spiritual truth is inspiring. It so much easier to teach people who are meek and are willing to act on spiritual impressions. His name is Dung and from Hanoi.
We met again with Chu Quoc who we met with last week. I believe strongly he will come back to church very soon. He is a very kind man and wants to grow in faith in God. I am so grateful for the hope and opportunity the gospel gives us to change and to see this happen first-hand. One thing I really has been on my mind this past week was how the gospel allows us to see our potential. This rooted in us being having an spiritual Father in Heaven, who allows us inherently, every single on of us, to have a gift or great talent. As I meet with people who perhaps have dashed dreams, I can the glimmer of hope in their eyes. As they come to understand and know that someone greater than us all, believes in them and knows they can do it, gives them great encouragement and peace and hope for the future. We were able to hear from President and Sister Hallstrom last night for a meeeting with the young adults in this area. Our investigator who came was Allen. He said the thing that stood out the most to him were the encouraging words that were spoken. President Hallstrom end his talk with his testimony of Jesus Christ and it was amazing how the Spirit filled the room. We will go forth again this week and labor with our might. Fasting is so real, so I know some miracles will happen especially this week because of we having a mission-wide fast tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Elder Shumway
